T-1:
Tomorrow, I start my US Staging. I spent yesterday in the District with my parents, visiting the Monuments and Memorials. My fifth grade field trip was to DC, in March of 2001. I haven't seen some of the newer ones (MLK, WWII, Korea), and I didn't really remember some of the ones I saw. I remember that it was dark and pouring rain the day when we went to the Vietnam Wall and the F. D. Roosevelt memorial, so there wasn't much to see. We did the whole walk around, seeing the Constitution Gardens, the Vietnam Memorial Wall, the Lincoln Memorial, the Reflecting Pool, the Korean Memorial, the brand new Martin Luther King, Jr, Memorial, the F.D. Roosevelt Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the White House, a World War I Memorial (the Second Division), and a few other smaller memorial statues. We also saw the bridge into Arlington, the Carillon, the flag at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, and the Marine Memorial.
Blog entries from a recent Appalachian State graduate who is a Peace Corps Volunteer, teaching English to secondary students in Ukraine.
